    Transcide is a good word for the tragedy of such hate let loose in the world.

    This caught my attention, too:

    As gay people, lesbians and transgenders a lot of times we are outcast from our families so we have the blessing of being able to choose who we call family.
    I've been around so many of the LGBT community (only I call them friends) who were rejected by their families.  Their pain and heartache is as bewildering as it is palpable.  To know that so many have found the joy of families of their own choosing...that is a healing grace for them and for those of us who love them.


    We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.
