    Primary causes would seem to be rising poverty and extreme economic uncertainty for the 99%, related rise in highly partisan politics and fear-based, group biases . . . coupled with easy access to deadly weaponry.

      and crime was up.

      It's straight-up exploited fear.  Marketing, if you will.

      are code words, Wader. Blame crumbling schools, lack of employment opportunities, starvation, easy availability of guns, crack and  liquor on "bad" parenting.
      You know what is good family values?
      Buy semi-automatic guns for your disturbed teenager and give him all the freedom he wants to sit before his computer every day and play violent video games. Yep, that's some good family value for you.
