  •  I don't find evidence backs up your assertion. (5+ / 0-)

The largest school massacre in the US was in 1927 before any of the modern gun control acts were put into place.  It was carried out with explosives.

These attacks are often planned out extensively and if they feel one tool will not meet their goals they will switch tools and explosives and/or poison will kill and injure more much more quickly than can firearms and are not always stopped when the attackers are stopped.

I believe this will simply cause escalation in type just as the war on drugs caused the creation of crack from cocaine.

    •  Interesting you brought up explosives (0+ / 0-)

because guess what has ingredients that are controlled and monitored?

I don't believe that the 2nd covers magazine size (unless it restricts built-in magazines on existing firearms with no grandfather clause) so I only need to compare the utility of having them out in public vs having them strictly controlled in public. Seems easy to me.

I see what you did there.

can be made using common household/hardware store chemicals. You don't need a truckload of fertilizer.

        •  You know that they track and report chems (0+ / 0-)

and fertilizer, especially post-OK City. Workers in places that sell it are trained to recognize suspicious purchases and report it...all more than currently happens with large magazines.

I see what you did there.

The average home has likely at least 4 ways to create 4 different chemical explosives that can detonate.

A modicum of research would reveal this and the formulas to anyone dedicated to causing destruction.

Also as the second amendment covers arms (a broad range of items indeed) it would apply to the sub-components of arms such as barrels, stocks, magazines, and the like.

of cleaning products? You can buy all the ingredients needed to make a bomb, and nobody will even think twice about selling you the stuff. Bombs can be made using acetone and hydrogen peroxide, as well as many other commonly available chemicals. Even commercial grade fertilizer is not tightly regulated. In most states, showing a driver's license is the only requirement, anyone can purchase it, and while records must be kept, there are no reporting requirements.
