    don't want a Grand Bargain. I really doubt there is going to be one. There is nothing else Obama can offer without killing his party. Period

      something that will undoubtedly damage them politically if they actually ARE required to include tax increases and sign onto SS cuts, when they can simply bleed the government until its small enough to fit into that bathtub of Grover Norquist's.

      If you think they can't take the defense cuts, think again.  They have known all along that the DOD budget was bloated, and they have obviously made the conscious decision that it is worth cutting it down to size if they can destroy everything they hate.  They can always pump it up again later.
