  •  Hey, me again..I thought of you while wandering (10+ / 0-)

    in Alaska recently.

    I went from FN Motorcycle
( and hint, altho the motorcycle pron chummed me in, I stayed for the native carvings and art and terrific stories and photos there...)

which led me to Northwest Explorer

which totally had me with kayaking all over Alaska and hiking on Kodiak Island, and all their adventures made for a long couple of night's reading...

...but then the went kayaking up the] where:

    Tracy and Endicott Arm 2012

Located fifty miles south of Juneau on Southeast Alaska’s inside passage, Tracy Arm and Endicott Arm are two ruggedly beautiful glacier carved fjords that extend far into the Coast Mountain Range.
A visit to the Tracy Arm-Fords Terror Wilderness, whether by boat or kayak, is an outstanding opportunity to closely observe several active tidewater glaciers surrounded by soaring mountains on all sides. Though not as well known as nearby Glacier Bay National Park, this area offers a very similar tidewater glacier experience with far fewer visitors and without government regulated access.

And then, the part where I thought of your writing bwren, was when they linked to one John Muir's writings:

Travels in Alaska really got me.

I have blathered before about the few times I explored and canoed around a bit of the inland passage, and almost, flip of the coin, whether to continue on from Prince Rupert to Alaska (I should have absolutely should have..where my truck would have broken down, both girlfriends would have left me, as different than just the one, long story) or continue back home where Nixon, the fed, draft, riots, police,  and unemployment awaited.

But Travels In Alaska is what I might have seen had the coin landed differently.

    That links for you bwren...
