  •  there was that woman (25+ / 0-)

with a wall full of crosses, berating me and explaining that is wasn't HER fault that I didn't get the letter to attend a resume workshop that occurred four days before the postmark on the envelope. And then took away the food
stamps and Medicaid for the kids, because I was noncompliant

Yeah- that wall full of crosses. Really told me everything I needed to know.

    •  Hope you appealed that decision... though the (6+ / 0-)

stress and fear make all that harder. But you had proof you were not a5t fault and that does matter

Those crosses seem an irony but what else would they use to crucify others?

The cross. let's say the whole Jesus the Christ is real. It took him 3 hours to die... a very short time for those killed that way and it was not an uncommon form of execution.
BEFORE that he taught many good lessons and performed miracles. After that he rose from the dead and hung out doing and saying good again for a bit.
But the symbol is about his death, not the love he taught or gave?

Let's say someone is the greatest mother in the world. Should the symbol of that be the pain of her 3 hour labor?

I am not religious but when I hear them say this is a Christian nation I think "I wish". If what we valued was what Jesus taught us to...
and your children would have been offered that food and the shelter and medical care that
and even noncompliant sinners would be treated with respect.
Heck they'd be treated with some care in jails
and the rich couldn't take the homes of the widows
and we would love one another as he loved us

      and so on.

I am in MI and when unemployment was so high here the new republican congress passed a law to cut off eligibility for assistance to families a year earlier than it was... and announced it using some quote from the psalms about he who won't work won't eat or something
and that this was all to help motivate them, good for them.
The money stopped right around Christmas. I still ache at the thought
Can't imagine the pain of fearing for your child's needs on top of your own.

I was on welfare for a while as a teen mom headed for college. I was treated kindly all along the way. What a difference that made.
