During the 2008 primary season predicting that "Barack Obama is Bad for Social Security."

My tip jar was hide-rated dozens of times.

    I tried to warn.

    I dunno.

"I'll believe that corporations are people when I see Rick Perry execute one."

I always thought Barack was rt of center, and was a Hillary supporter because of that. I just thought she would have known how to better deal with the extremists on the right, having all that experience from her husbands presidencies.

But man, people here were making Obama out to be some super Liberal, and God help you if you suggested otherwise.

      •  Hillary suggested a Social Security Commission (6+ / 0-)

during the debates. At a time that Obama was at least mouthing support for a donut hole cap increase.

If anyone believes the Hillary Social Security Commission would have had less Rubinista/Centrist/DLC/Blue Dog representation for the Dems than the B-S Commission did then frankly you are delusional.

I was warning people here and elsewhere about Obama's Social Security agenda and his neo-lib tendencies from the time I saw his initial three campaign economic hires: Goolsbee, Cutler and Liebman. And the reason to be suspicious of at least the latter two: Because they were Harvard Rubin/Summeristas veterans of the Clinton Administration.

Beyond a few Chicago pals the entire Obama domestic policy team and particularly its economic branch is staffed top to bottom with veterans of the Clinton White House. Unless Hillary had some magic invisible alternative hiring pool from which she would be drawing (and nothing in her record really suggests that, except maybe on children's issues) you would have expected to see the exact type of DLC style neo-liberalism out of H. Clinton as you do out of BHO and did out of Bill Clinton.

Face it nobody running in 2008 was a Paul Wellstone or even a Tom Harkin, all three main candidates were just different flavors of Third Way.

Which wouldn't have prevented me from voting for any of them, and enthusiastically. Rather a Neo-Lib than a Neo-Con (because Neo-Libs do their targeted killing retail while Neo-Cons kind of like the carpet bombing approach), at least we are not in a shooting war with Iran.

But this is why I just abstained from the whole civil war thing here at dKos and went off and did boring policy shit at the econoblogs: Obots and PUMAs alike were just seeing what they wanted to see rather than what was in front of them.
