    Jay C, viral, puzzled

that she probably doesn't deserve. But, puzzled, there are older electric cars; some of the first cars were electrics. Some were steam powered! And did you know that from the 1940s through the 1970s, Chrysler researched, developed, and built turbine-engined cars with an eye to putting those on the market?

The guys at the Top Fuel tracks think they can make noise ... an idle speed of 200,000 rpm, and better fuel economy and engine reliability than the reciprocating (piston) type internal-combustion engine?

This is why Major Kong and all the folks like him fly jets....and why, of course, the turbine wound up in a tank and Chrysler couldn't put it into cars (1979 government loan requirements).

Meanwhile, the Wasilla Wonderdummy's got nothin' better to do than run down the inventors who just might make this country great again? Figures.

It maddens me that we've sunk all our improvements in batteries and motors into increased speed and weight, and that's true of all vehicles, not just cars.  Put state of the art batteries and motors into a 1900s electric car that's built like a horse carriage and only weighs a few hundred pounds and travels at 20 mph, and you'd have a car with a range comparable to a ICE car on a full tank of gas that uses a fraction of the energy.
