  •  She's a blue dog, which is probably (8+ / 0-)

the only Dem who can win there.  Better than a R.  Some places are unwinnable for progressives, and I think a district that was about 60% Romney voters probably is one.  I haven't contrubuted to her, don't have excess cash and, even if I did, I'd probably pass.  But at least she opposes chained cpi.

    •  Tell me again (6+ / 0-)

why are Blue dogs better then Republicans?  They are not Democrat's they are more effective at implementing Government Sachs  as 'moderate'. In short they are more then useless they keep the 'New Democrat's' running and owning our party and 'the way forward' is not only not Democratic it's anti-democratic and has no redeeming value. It's The Third Way and I don't vote for third parties especially ones that are posing as Democrat's.

As for only blue doggies can get elected that's bs. I remind you that in 2010 the Democrat's that took the worst hits were Blue dog conservadems. This is ass backward politically and to top it off it we all lose even if we win. Cart before the horse false partisanship and cowardly to boot.

I voted for McCaskill in the senate.  She is a conservative Dem, but favors choice and unions and has not supported any filibusters.

        I don't live in SC so I don't have a vote.

You are welcome to vote for Republcicans or others.   McCaskill is the closest thing to a blue dog I have voted for in decades.

that people should vote for Republicans. I'm saying that the Democratic Party machine does not run or support progressives or even real Democrat's. They prefer and throw their money behind people like McCatskill who by the way is an honorary chair in The Third Way. They prefer these candidates because they are conservative and have the same agenda as this administration. If the Democratic party machine actually ran Democrat's who once elected,  stood up for fought for the people and democratic values they would win in many places they claim they can't unless... which is just bs. Politics are not static and FDR had a good point about fear.

      •  Because the Majority in the House sets the aggenda (0+ / 0-)

The Dems have the deck stacked against them in the House due to gerrymandering. Enough voters took their eye off the big picture in a census year, 2010. Now the only shot (a loooong shot) to retake the house before the next census is to find and support about 20 conservadems in not likely but still maybe, red districts.

The C-Busch race is not one anyone would have targeted given the district. But with the fluke of the Colbert name and the tarnished Sandford name....the district went from impossible, to long shot. It would be a great pick up. But she will have to dance further right than we here would idealize to pull it off.

However, No Majority, No agenda, No Speaker, No Committee Chairs. Just the way it is.

.....it's on the table, under the watermelon she demurred. Thanks, I was planning on shaving anyway he replied.

        •  The Democrats had a solid majority 2007-2010 (0+ / 0-)

They blew it, by not bringing their policy agenda to a vote.

Frankly, the Republicans don't need a majority in order to control the agenda;  they've learned how to punk Democrats even when they're in the minority.

It's only the Democrats who can't seem to get it together.  I don't think that's a coincidence.

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.

        "Legitimate rape" springs to mind.

It's effed up, I know, but that's what has become of the alternative, if a centre-right Democrat doesn't win.

The Blue Dogs hurt far more than the help.

    •  If the only "Democrat" who can get elected (0+ / 0-)

      believes that:

      1) taxes are too high
      2) spending is too high

then that person isn't in the least bit a Democrat.  And they will be absolutely no help.  Their very presence completely undermines progressive policy solutions on every issue.

Shirley Chisholm was right. Our Republic is in deep trouble.
