    They sell electronics, stationary, phone SIM cards and recharging cards, books and stuff for travelers.  They also tend to be located in strip malls where they are easily accessed.

      The Repubs made sure to ban the USPS from competing in any endeavor in which they could make money because of their network. There are a myriad of services in which the USPS could profitably engage, such as Postal Banking, that
      are prohibited to it by the commercial powers which control the laws under which it operates. In other words, it is a fixed system, they can't raise their rates enough to pay the bills, and they can't can't use their resources to generate new revenue. It's a legal stranglehold designed to kill the USPS and deliver it's most tasty morsels to the private sector.

      Who, might you ask, is behind this? Well, it is ALEC, and all its backers and funds, it's the corporatocracy which longs to loot the public service provided by the USPS and replace it with a cash cow for private companies, FedEx chief amongst them.
