Most of the Dem votes are concentrated in the Research Triangle (Durham, Raleigh, Chapel Hill) and Charlotte. (And the redistricting has diffused even those votes.)

    •  You missed Asheville, Wilmington, and some parts (5+ / 0-)

      of Winston-Salem.

Happy little moron, Lucky little man.

from a progressive blogger telling me that the legislature is trying to take over Asheville's water system, reduce its zoning powers, and such.

There are several smaller sprouts of the evil librul weed trying to spread across pure red clay of NC.

      •  Wilmington sliced by gerrymander (0+ / 0-)

The 'downtown' (also see "mostly AA voters) section of Wilmington was placed into Walter "Freedom Fries" Jones congressional district.

And for state senate, they re-drew the lines to pull that same section of Wilmington into Brunswick County, which traditionally votes 75%-25% R vs D

The NC GOP will own the elections until the next census unless those districts are thrown out in court (I think the case is still slowly churning, but it doesn't matter. The R's got their election in before the court case. How convenient.)
