I read that as a bit more of a selfless attitude and I think it's admirable.

I know when I was living in the states working part time and unable to afford health insurance (and I did once find myself at the local 'free' clinic with some fairly benign ailment requiring antibiotics) that I was perhaps at one of the most charitable periods of my life-- donating my belongings, my time, my blood. It's been too long now since I've marched.

Can I ask? Are you dealing with pain? I've been around and cared for people who lived in constant pain and having known a taste of it myself I could readily understand your ambivalence.

I note from your profile that your location is CA. From what I've heard things have improved since Arnie left office. I was out in CA a couple of years ago and the grinding of teeth over his moronic policy and budget decisions was audible-- especially from my relatives.

There's been some economic uptick in the SF Bay Area, and maybe LA, but the middle of the state is a hellhole. The specific area where I'm stuck living (San Joaquin Valley) is now officially the HARDEST place to get a job in the entire country. It drives me crazy when the Governor goes around touting how "California's back!!" while huge chunks of this state are suffering terribly, and it's like he's just forgotten about us, doesn't care, or worse, doesn't know.
