    there are no gun regulations in this bill. The regulations are on people, not guns. So yes, this is very much like the mandated seatbelt law. That's people regulation. You have to expand the police state to enforce it. Lets see what happens on that front. Car regulation would be like the 1991 Airbag law. We mandate how dangerous things can be at the point of creation.

    At some point, we have to turn our attentions to the weapons themselves. Limiting ammunition, banning most kinds (excepting revolvers, shotguns, and bolt action rifles), requiring insurance as the price of ownership, VAT taxing them from raw material to final sale, and a national registry of every weapon. That's gun control.

    What we are getting today is a little bit of people control. Wont prevent any massacres but might have some effect on family domestic violence. Which is the best we can do for now. That's good. Take what we can get but not nearly worthy of the magnitude of the problem.

    But, like Greg says...long term commitment. Shame so many folks are going to get murdered in the meantime.
