  •  I think "black helicopter" propaganda (0+ / 0-)

is one of the leading exports from Alaska to the rest of the country.

I think its Oil, Anti-Government Conspiracy Theories, and Bounced Child-Support checks.  ...not sure in what order though.

And if I was running a GOP campaign in Alaska and the Democratic primary broke out into a gun-control debate, I would issue a mandatory media blackout, duct tape my candidates mouth shut and just wait out the few months to be duly sworn into office.

    •  It would not be a "gun control" debate, it would (0+ / 0-)

be an pro public safety, anti crime and anti suicide campaign.

I don't know the specific numbers in Alaska, but rural states generally have a high gun suicide rate and states with lax gun laws have high gun violence.

Couple that with NRA sponsored legislation that makes it easier for criminals and the mentally it to get guns and wallah - you've got an anti-crime/pro public safety candidate.

And, after the NRA loses the background check debate and possibly bans on AW/high cap mags as well, much of its mythological power will be sapped and the parameters of the debate will change - it's no longer gun control, it's no longer infringing on the 2A and it's no longer imaginary dictators and black helicopters.

Furthermore, are Dems in the business of real solving problems or just concerned with protecting their jobs?

      •  How about gun respect. (2+ / 0-)

It seems to me that guns are being treated with little respect and like toys.

Maybe we should be on the gun respect side.

guns are fun v. hey buddy, watch what you are doing -- which side are you on?

            exact moment their responsibility ends.

            1. The bad guy took my gun. Oopsie. I'm not responsible.

            2. The gun went off by accident. Oopsie. I'm not responsible.

Respect for guns goes on long after the law ends. There is no oopsie in respect for guns.
