that seems to be in everyone's thoughts these days. Reminders of it are everywhere. While watching Rachel Maddow's show online this morning, to listen to more news about the bombing in Boston, I was pelted with commercials between segments for some sort of retirement insurance scheme which featured smiling children and some older folks placing round stickers on a huge wall, set up like a graph, showing the age of retirement and increments of age in decades up to 110 or so. The people in the commercial were supposedly asked to place one of the dots at the age on the timeline of the oldest person they'd known. And I suppose the oldest person I've known died just last year at age 95. She was certainly one of the oldest people I've known-- I'm not really sure if she was actually the oldest. She was decidedly the oldest person I've spent whole afternoons with. Anyway, as one of her friends, I was just last week invited to attend a dinner held to honor her memory.

So yeah, a lot of death on my mind lately. And indeed graves are on my mind this week as well. Last week my little family and I went to one of the family's grave sites to do a bit of Spring cleaning and I was reminded of my promise to renew the worn lettering on the gravestone of my my mother-in-law's family grave. Bought the paint over the weekend and plan on heading out to the site tomorrow morning.
