    Punishment.

When will we ever learn how to wield power, even from the bottom? Look to GLBT rights movement. Either you raise the ante and punish bad behavior or you live with it. Republicans, so many of them being authoritarian by nature, know this. Clinton's used to be pretty good at it. It's not about being "adult" or the "grownups" or being heard but it's about force.

Even our own here, even in this thread, dismiss clarifying public outrage and demands as angst! Conflating authentic public demand with "a feeling of anxiety, apprehension, or insecurity " is so self-defeating. They're so accustomed to holding up the goal posts (i.e., "usual suspects," "professional left") to repeating the script, to relentlessly and perpetually saying, "we really, really mean it this time" ...

So how to step out of the script?

    Thanks, bbb.

At least according to the script the good parts of Obama's budget proposal will be ignored and parts that suck will be used by GOP to slap Dems during '14 election but there won't actually be cuts to SS.
