  •  Let's assume what you say is true (3+ / 0-)

and the President needs to include concessions to Republicans to get a budget passed.

Is the budget he just proposed, the one that gets him labelled as "wanting to cut Social Security", going to pass?  If not, this particular "concession" only hurts him.

You can talk all you want about how the President needs to make concessions to get stuff done.  But if those concessions 1) don't get the job done and 2) make the President look like an uncaring jackass who wants to balance the budget on the backs of low-income seniors, he's a sucker, plain and simple.

Of course, what you're probably noting at this point is that you're giving him two goals: finding a budget that might be the basis of congressional action and one that meets all your subjective criteria.  These are mutually exclusive.

Only on a blog can people pretend that we can have both, if Obama would only provide more Leadership (TM).

By the way, who thinks that Obama is balancing the budget on the backs of low income seniors?  Because that to me would say that the only balancing attempt is for them.  Or most of it.  We know that's not true, right?
We know there are tax increases, military spending cuts, along with increases in investment and aid to the poor, right?

That's not even "gun control". It's more like "massacre control".
