regarding the SS cuts, which is still bad. The head of the Democratic party (Obama) and the Democratic House Minority leader (Pelosi) both support cutting SS.

If you have polling data that disputes these figures, please share.

I would hardly characterize that as the Dem Party being "Split".

If the Dem Party is "Split" regarding SS Cuts, is there any issue that really unites us?

The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare, which is launching a massive "No Cuts" campaign, said 70 percent of voters polled by Lake Research Partners and American Viewpoint oppose the idea of including Social Security and Medicare cuts in any proposal by the Joint Committee on Deficit Reduction.

The opposition is strongest among Democrats at 82 percent. Seventy-three percent of independents and 58 percent of Republicans also said they oppose any cuts.

The poll, however, found 71 percent of voters approve raising the cap on taxing Social Security wages above $106,000.

      •  I meant the Dem Leadership is Split (0+ / 0-)

I'm quite confident the rank-and-file Dems overwhelmingly are against SS cuts. Sorry, I thought that was clear when I cited Pelosi's and Obama's support for cuts instead of regular people who are non-politicians. The Dem politicians in Washington don't really have much incentive to listen to its base since they'll vote for them regardless of what they do.

      •  Steny Hoyer is for it (0+ / 0-)

Was on the radio today saying how they have to put all options on the table.

The Progressive Caucus may be against it but the leaders of the party in the House are not.  Even Pelosi.
