  •  Does this really include Ls and Ts? (0+ / 0-)

In other words, can women now play for the NHL (assuming they otherwise qualify), at least as long as they claim to be lesbian or trans?

I watched the "YouCanPlay" video, and it seems to say that as long as you can do the moves, you are allowed to play in the NHL.

That's huge for young women hockey players.

Somehow I don't think that's what they mean -- but they should have to explain why their video doesn't apply to people with female DNA or female-looking anatomy.

    •  AFAIK, there is nothing in official NHL (1+ / 0-)

policy that bars women. There are a couple of precedents in exhibition games.

I remember watching the highlights of Manon Rheamue's exhibition appearances in goal. Very cool!

... i think the other one i was thinking of must have been hayley wickenheiser, who was invited to the philadelphia flyers' rookie camps, and later played some men's pro hockey in finland and sweden. apparently she was doing reasonably well in the Finnish league, but the team she was on got promoted to the next tier, and she was less effective there so she left the team.
