    •  He should at least know what he doesn't know (3+ / 0-)

If he cared to find out, he might just go to, say, Wikipedia and check out the hostory of slavery/"states rights" (we can have slaves if we want to)/Reconstruction/Jim Crow (we can use the state's power to oppress and disenfranchise former slaves all we want)/Dixiecrats/Southern Stratgy/21st century Republican-led voter suppression. Then, go to Howard and talk like you actually know something.

he would begin to learn and then speak truth to the racism that permeates the modern Republican Party, and especially the Tea Party.

        •  Excellent point, but it might set up a paradox (1+ / 0-)

...a small one, of faux-libertarian proportions.
In "Rand Paul's America," an individual of non-caucasian heritage walks into a "Whites-Only" private business and demands service. Now, who in this scenario can lay claim to fighting for rights and freedom? In real life, today, the answer seems obvious, but Rand Paul advocates a society where oppositional rights are legally indeterminate, and some level of conflict is inevitable.
If businesses should legally be able to exclude whoever they wish, that extends the rights of some to more places, times, and situations than the rights of others. Libertarianism dictates that you cannot abridge people's rights unless absolutely necessary, and this modern narcissistic variety advocates seizing and defending any and all perceived "rights."
Rand will have a lot of us at each others' throats, for no other reason than his own sense of importance.
