for Anthony Cannella's and Lou Correa's seats in the Senate and the seats of Morrell, Gorell (interesting how they rhyme) and Linder in the House?

Also, Don Wagner is a Republican. Your list has him as a Democrat.

    •  Gorell should be a top target (2+ / 0-)

He's one of the very few California GOPers I think has potential.  He's held a fairly blue seat and has a good background: he served in Afghanistan during his first term. I'd rather beat him now than risk him becoming a threat later.

In all three Assembly seats we were done in by weak candidates last year.  Against Morrell we had Russ Warner, who ran for the old CA-26 in 2008 and 2010.  Warner didn't seem to raise or spend enough money to win this blue seat against a conservative opponent, though he did get close.  Against Gorrell we had a Some Dude.  Against Linder we had a school board member who didn't seem to really campaign.  I hope we can get better candidates for all three but I'm concerned about our recruitment problems in the ideal year of 2012.

They are both term limited in 2016, so I wouldn't expect the Dems to make much of an effort in 2014.

On the other side, the only Dem who looks vulnerable in 2014 is Fox. Quirk-Silva was viewed as a big upset, but Obama won that district with room to spare and she could probably hold it with a strong GOTV effort.

I was a bit tired when I was editing this last night, so I apologize for any errors.

As for candidates, in SD-12, Tom Hallinan, who is the city attorney of Oakdale in Stanislaus County (Oakdale isn't in SD-12) is running. He lost an Assembly race in 2002, so I'm not sure how viable he is or if anyone else will get in.

Former Assemblyman Jose Solorio of Santa Ana is running in SD-34 and is a good recruit.

So far, we don't have any candidates running against Morrell or Linder, but Morrell did put 20k into his re-election campaign, so he is preparing for a tough race. As for Gorrell, no one is in yet, but David Cruz Thayne, who ran in the CA-26 primary last year, is considering running.
