    background check proposal is all we're going to get out of either house of congress, if we're lucky enough to get this.  It's going to be extremely difficult to keep up momentum for gun law changes once the future of this small change is finally determined.

      I think it will take time. And even if there is some bill that passes, it is just the first tiny step in what might take decades.

      In the mean time states that have liberalized gun laws will continue to serve as negative controls. States that put armed civilians or volunteers in schools will face "unintentional" shootings and liability law suits, and sadly, the killings will continue until enough people are tire of the ongoing traumatic and financial toll.

        further progress. If the carnage continues (and why wouldn't it) the press may actually report it and pressure will be applied.

        Sadly, the first Resource Officer to shoot a kid will move the process along.
