  •  you aren't going to run for President (4+ / 0-)

(if I'm wrong about that you've got my vote)

A Senator, and only a Senator, could make serious noise right now by threatening to go down fighting doing the Mr Smith Goes to Washington act. That kind of noise could start a movement, a truly bipartisan movement as the Republican base will split with Wall St over this, that could really help us down ticket in 2014. We can't just be Sanders and Grijalva being ignored.

This whole deficit nonsense is political class (pundit buro? beltway?) group think versus the country. The House Progressive budget doesn't get any press, of course, because the silent treatment kills ideas in TV land. It's not a conspiracy, they (the media, the centrists who are occasionally on our side ) all think alike.

But the country isn't with them here. This emperor has no clothes. And even Pelosi or Grijalva making noise isn't the same as "I WILL SHUT THE GOVERNMENT DOWN OVER THIS" that the gun nuts keep using. If it got to that the centrists would then have the harsh light of the 60 vote threshold and I'm betting there are Republicans who can read this writing as well.

If you didn't like the news today, go out and make some of your own.
