We have a good family friend who worked there for over 20 years, supporting her family. They treated her well. That's good for a good deal of loyalty.

We have a Kmart the next town over. I shop there often. I refuse to go to Walmart. I have a problem with a lot of stuff Target does. I'm the first to acknowledge that Kmart is far from perfect, but no big box discounter is.

Kmart is a good place to buy essentials for the house that I can't get at Costco, and some toiletries, first aid stuff, etc for good prices.

Its  employees are always friendly, generally in a good mood (which tells me they're generally happy) and the store is pretty well staffed.

I definitely see more people of color working at this Kmart than I do the Target a mile or so away.  I want to go to a store where employees represent my community.

I shop at Kmart and Sears for that matter too, quite a lot. I like supporting quintessential American stores that have served both urban and rural communities for decades. We can choose to shop at more "upscale" stores for the same products, but why would we?

So if you get hit by a bus tonight, would you be satisfied with how you spent today, your last day on earth? Live like tomorrow is never guaranteed, because it's not. -- Me.

the folks working K-Mart are much friendlier and seem happier than the folks working wally world or targe'. And the customers seem happier. I have gotten into a few discussions with other folks in line at the K-mart - never at wally world. And both employees and customers are in varying shades of white to brown. Was in line buying my shower gift stuff on friday and the couple in front of me had three LARGE boxes of "baby stuff". I cracked that this must be the baby shower line. They turned and said - triplets!! Our daughter is having triplets! I just offered up a WOW!!! The cashier gal said that she has seen lots of baby stuff today. I said that I'm just buying a gift for a gal in the RV park and she's just having one!

if a habitat is flooded, the improvement for target fishes increases by an infinite percentage...because a habitat suitability index that is even a tiny fraction of 1 is still infinitely higher than zero, which is the suitability of dry land to fishes.
