    When you say:

    "Seventy percent of voters age 50 or older are opposed to the chained CPI for Social Security."
    When you say this in this manner, only political insiders really understand what you're trying to say and the average person may get the wrong impression of what you mean.

    What you really mean to say is that seventy percent of older votes oppose President Obama's plan to eliminate chained CPI for social security.  

    Talking about votes "opposed to chained CPI" on its face means almost the opposite of what you're communicating.
