    If you're even remotely entertaining the idea of grad school, then turning it into an academic paper would have a bigger potential payoff than anything else you could do with your time. Seek a prof's assistance if you think it's "above your pay grade," but academic publishing isn't that hard to navigate if you read enough of it to get the feel for how an article should be structured.
