    but I would argue that someone to repeating murderous thoughts over and over simply hardwires them into his brain so that they are his automatic thoughts that lead to an automatic response to a "trigger," no pun intended.

      people are shooting at posters of Trayvon is to drive people like us nuts. They are in essence saying fuck you to us. We shouldn't give them the satisfaction of actually going nuts. Since there is nothing illegal about shooting at a poster of a kid with Skittles in his pocket, and thus there is nothing we can do about it, I myself will not give these idiots the pleasure of making me outraged. Screw em.

        but it's enough to be fired from a position on a police department.  How could anyone argue that this man would treat everyone he encounters in his line of work with fairness?

        Secondly, I don't think saying nothing about this kind of attitude, especially in someone in a position of public trust, is a good policy.  We need to make it socially unacceptable with a price to be paid.  We cannot ignore the social context in which this happened.  The primary way we are going to make progress on gun safety is by changing attitudes.
