blueness was banned because he was dancing on the grave of a soldier.

Someone who, despite other despicable attributes, was willing to give their life for their country.

And blueness had their own despicable attributes.

    As do I.

I was not sorry to see them go.

but I'd risk getting banned if I said why, so . . .

And that, I think, is the problem.

i supported that Kos piece at the time on the Kerry blog.
in my read, nothing has come close to that essay until- wait for it- blueness' now "administratively deleted" diary.

dancing on the grave of anyone.

Chris Kyle was a mercenary.  he killed "brown savages for God" (his words) and for money.

if you see prayers and Kenneth Patchen poetry as a macabre "dance," that's on you.

as to despicable attitudes, and not being sorry to see "them" go, is that new news?  it was perfectly clear to anyone who read one of your "coalition of blogs" that this was cause for celebration and gloating.

just so you know, to make my point, i used the language of the poster i was replying to.

'dancing on graves' no more defines what Blueness wrote than it does what Kos wrote in 2004. and for all Kos' 'in your face' activist skills, which i give credit to, his writing skills don't begin to touch Blueness'.  but of course, few do.  Blueness is a gifted writer and human being.  anyone who doesn't see that doesn't understand what goes into the kind of writing, which means the kind of reliving life experiences, that can pierce hearts.   blueness left blood on the page.  he does what few will ever reach to do, he opens his own vein.

i wished i'd seen that diary in real time.  comments are no longer allowed.

Kos made a mistake in the battle of speaking truth to power, something many of us have been engaged in for years, and whether he ever understands or sees or admits that is up to him.  i hope he does.  i hope he doesn't start the closing-in that happens to too many when they reach their mid-years.  some of us go on crashing the gates to the end of our days.  some of those people are here, too.  we recognize one another.   :-)

about mercenaries and Fallujah, written by kos in 2004 and 2005.

you're right on.  blueness opens his veins in much of what he writes.*  despite the DBAD rule and Guest in Someone's House rule and every other rule, a few sacred cows felt themselves above the law set for the rest of us and trolled blueness' diaries, knowing he couldn't use any community moderation tools, i.e. HRs, and also knowing that any response would lead to a meta war lasting two or three days.

the same users took it upon themselves to report this "heinous" diary as though it had been written for IGNT.

the same users talked a lot of smack in other places, but here, they seem to believe that was written in Invisible Ink.

i believe it was a sacrifice.

and i'm with you all the way on his one, kj. ;)

*Neuro-opto-whatev, if you read this, note well "opium den" is not what i said.  this is a kind of bloodletting i don't think you'd understand, but it doesn't involve drugs.

            "heinous."  a damning word.

i think, if Kos wants to stay a player, he really has stretch his own thinking, not just his business thinking. the tubes really aren't all that vast.  and the world has been filled with corruption for a long, long, time.  unless he just wants an election-cycle blog.

but then, i cut my teeth on a free-speech, no banning, message board composed of way too many radical conservatives, prior to Selection 2000.  :-)  i stuck it out there until 2003 and there was a chance to work for change in the White House.

i know what closed minds sound like.  i know what denial can do to a person.

hiya, Avila.  and please say hello, and gracious, to our mutual friend.

a curious use of that word.

though i find more and more curiosities recently.  if every lurker on this site likely has something of value to contribute, but valued long time members of the "community" do not, and are subject to banning without warning, it's more than a bit hard to follow.

hello to you, too, kj.  i'll pass on your message. ;)

"use 'em up and spit 'em out."

long-time contributors workers have acquired too much seniority, too much respect, too many followers, too much vacation time, too many bennies when there are all those newly minted kids fresh outa collage who will work for half the recognition wage just for a shot at the rec list chance to use the executive john.

i'm not the brainiest broad around but i rarely give my work product away unless i'm getting exactly what i want in return.   my free time and energy go to those who might actually have a use and a way to push it forward.

so, in all sincerity, i bow to the excellent writers who have been banned from this site, hopefully, before they are banned.  they are few and far between.  they have my gratitude and respect and admiration.  i love words.  words have power.  words can change the world.
