  •  Be careful with that "or two" thing regarding (18+ / 0-)

They have some rather interesting ways of taking over.

We cannot call ourselves a civilised society if we refuse to protect the weakest among us.

    •  I am a TOTAL believer in (15+ / 0-)

planned pethood!  My daughter got a boy bun last November in a private purchase. Hadn't been spayed, vet promptly informed her Patches is NOT a boy. Which was cause for amusement because we have always avoided boy pets.

Yeah, some people get overwhelmed by bunnies easily. The first two we had over a decade ago were rescued from an elderly hoarder who had moved out of her house, and continued to leave food. Unbelievably ugly conditions. Hazel and Cinderella were very disturbed animals as were most from that house. The Colorado Rabbit Society ended up trying to establish a refuge for them because so few could adapt to being pets. Lost track of how that went.

OTOH, my maternal grandfather had at least 10 at a time during the depression and a decade + after. Friends in Anchorage had a half dozen in a beautiful hutch. Peter, Mama, Roast, Stew, Fricassee, Soup, Stir Fry, Fried, Baked, and probably others I've forgotten.

Have first cousins and lots of KSU college friends who were active in 4H. They had learned very young how animals get on the table sometimes...
