  •  Can I just say something? (9+ / 0-)

People like Ro Khanna and Beau Biden piss me off. That sort of person who thinks they are entitled to something, then when somebody else takes it away they freak out? Yeah. That's really infuriating. You had your One Shining Moment, and you chickened out. Now, you desperately are trying to get it back, and you look like a damn fool. I am so enraged by this that I might have to donate money to Mike Honda. And I, as a college student, have very little money.

but what did Biden do that showed entitlement? I must have missed that.

I always thought the opposite of him, that he seemed really focused on being AG vs. running for higher office right now.

      •  Yeah, he could have sought to have been appointed (8+ / 0-)

when his father was elected VP and I'm sure he would have gotten it as Markell appointed Joe Biden's Chief of Staff. If anything Beau just realized that Mike Castle was a very formidable opponent and that he'd be giving up his current office if he took the plunge. IIRC, Chris Coons didn't risk his own office when he ran. I'm highly convinced that Beau would have run had Castle not, but up until maybe a few weeks before the primary, Castle seemed like a lock.

        •  Actually, Ruth Ann Minner appointed Ted Kaufman (5+ / 0-)

to the Senate, shortly before Markell succeeded her.

Had she chosen Beau Biden, he might have frozen out strong competition.  I don't know if Castle would have run in that instance, but I'm inclined to think that he wouldn't have, since he wouldn't have been running for an open seat (Kaufman made it clear early on that he wouldn't run for the rest of the term), which obviously was his best chance in a blue leaning state.  And the state GOP might have benefited in a sense, as Castle might still be in the House and at least there wouldn't have been the embarrassing storyline of dumping Castle for Christine O'Donnell (she might have run but probably would have gotten little national notice as was the case when she ran against Joe Biden in 2008.)

Chris Coons did not risk his own office; he was New Castle County executive in 2010, an office which wasn't up for election that year.

      •  Beau Biden has distanced himself (10+ / 0-)

from his father and worked hard to build his own profile. I expect he wants to run for governor in 2016, as he seems more interested in Delaware issues than national ones.

I don't get why Ro Khanna decided to not run in 2012 against Stark.

On a side note, I met Mike Honda for the first time last Friday.
