proposal (Pre-K not the tax) is offered with no intention of it ever coming to fruition, more so than the chained CPI. It is in there purely for show to give liberals something to feel good about as a 'progressive goodie' in exchange for chained CPI. With no strong supporters behind it, It is very, very easy to cut out of the plan, and will be the first thing to do. It is the proverbial bone and the people on People's View have bitten RIGHT in, yet won't be that disappointed when it's gone.

    •  So it's perfectly fine for the whole site to (0+ / 0-)

go crazy for a week about one part of the proposal that is never going to happen (chained CPI) but any mention of a different part of the same proposal is somehow a problem? And yes, I understand why chained CPI is important but still.

      •  I think it's foolish to believe chained CPI isn't (3+ / 0-)

the Federal Government to the states for poor people up to 2x poverty level and any 'extra' money subsidizing the middle class on a sliding scale, IIRC...

Sounds like universal pre-k like ACA is universal health care.

          Entirely unimpressed.

it was stuck in the there to have something to take away. I don't recall this ever being Obama's priority. It has no constituency behind it so no one will be pissed off.

cheap program. What states can or will afford it?

Apparently Alabama is the poster child for this. Reminds me of the Houston, DC. and Chicago propaganda, in education (iirc)...

        •  Sure, if we start assuming that some parts of (0+ / 0-)

the budget will pass and others won't it makes sense. However, these assumptions are based exclusively on preconceived notions about Obama.

education policy generally as he and his pal Arne Duncan are pushing phony, unproven education "reform" that is unsupported by any research or experience, whereas pre-kindergarten actually has some reliable research to recommend it as effective in the long-run at producing better educational, social and economic outcomes for the students who participate in it.
