  •  Anybody Who Supports "Sin Taxes" is a Monster..... (7+ / 0-)

Even if a "sin tax" is five cents, it's unethical.  If it's $1.95 as the President is proposing, it's diabolical, the work of amoral predator taking advantage of the personal weaknesses of his most vulnerable constituents.  While I appreciate your diary pointing out the obvious when virtually nobody else on Kos or in the media is doing so, it sickens me that you lend moral daylight to this most unconscionable policy practice which cowardly Democrats are using with increased frequency.  That's why I'm tipping you but not recommending.

And the most despicable part of what Obama has done here is that he knew all along he was gonna shank smokers right after the election just as he did when he last raised the cigarette tax in 2009, but he didn't have the basic decency to tell the poor, the abused, and the mentally ill who represent a vastly disproportionate share of American smokers that he intended to take yet another thousand dollars per year out of their pockets because of their bad habit.  That's a coward that does that.  That's a monster.  How is it possible that American politics has become so full of scoundrels that the man doing this to the poor, the abused, and the mentally ill was only the second most vile candidate who ran for President last fall?
