  •  yay!!! yes please- let's do this every week! (9+ / 0-)

    about this part:

Thematically, I agree with Matthew Perpetua that this is the season in which we finally recognize that our protagonist is not our hero, that Don Draper's not getting redeemed and isn't particularly admirable. We are watching the consequences of his selfishness, of his inability to adapt, and the idea that Megan or his kids (whom we've yet to see him with this season) or Peggy are going to lead to some transformation ... well, that's not happening.
it took me awhile, but I didn't think don was a complete and total asshole until the third episode of the first season. remember how he got drunk and left sally's birthday party to get the cake and didn't come back? glen's mom provided the cake, even after everyone was rude to her .

then way after the guests are long gone don comes back w/ some other family's dog. the next episode has poor betty walking that stupid dog- of course don and the kids weren't going to take care of it. and what about the family whose dog he stole? bastard.

I still love don- I just think he's an asshole. always have. he's charming and fun to watch- just like most narcissists. I think it's funny that it's only now people are noticing don isn't much of a hero.

it's nice to see him treat megan as badly as he treated betty. i'm not even kidding. I can't tell you how annoyed I would have been if megan got to have a happy marriage after betty was treated like garbage year in and year out.

i'm wondering how soon before don cheats on megan w/ betty. brunettes are his type, and now betty is finally his type.

I didn't think don gave Sylvia (Lindsay weir!!!) money like she was a whore. I think he gave her money to make himself look better and more generous than her husband.

poor Trudy. she knew pete couldn't be left alone (remember the neighbor's nanny? the one who ruined her boss's party dress?) he told her not to leave him alone again. the poor thing knew exactly what happened.

when she let him get the apartment she knew it was going to happen again (and again, and again,) but she didn't think it would be this flagrant and humiliating. pete's such a loser he couldn't find anyone else to sleep w/ in that apartment but one of his Connecticut neighbor wives. and a clingy, desperate one at that. idiot.

you know how old characters pop up from time to time? when do we get to see Francine?

Breaking Bad ( glosses over the killing of an innocent kid ) Hell On Wheels ( main guy kills the wrong union soldier , by the way the guy who played the Swede was just awesome...'they call me the Swede. heh. i'm Norwegian. But...we're all Americans now, eh?' what a gloriously evil bastard. ) and finally the Walking Dead, where Rick is is leaving behind a desperate hiker to get eaten, expelling outsiders and was almost ready to turn in Michonne...there are no real good guys on AMC.
