  •  I have read or listened to all of the books. (6+ / 0-)

I've been generally pleased by the casting and way the writers have adapted such a sprawling story. Sometimes they clarify by trimming and sometimes they create something completely new. I had never heard of the books until I started seeing trailers for the first season on HBO. That throne of swords was such an arresting image...so I got the first book. Instantly hooked. I basically inhabited Westeros for about six months. I love the series, especially Peter Dinklage, who is the perfect Tyrion and the great locations, Iceland to Ireland to Morocco. I just learned that the actress who plays Robb Stark's wife is Oona Chaplin, daughter of Geraldine Chaplin and granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin.

I highly recommend listening to the audiobooks of the series. British actor Roy Dotrice narrated the first three and does a great job.
