The coke consumption of Wall Street yuppies is an effect, not a cause.
Got any proof to go with that assertion?

They seem to be inextricably linked to me.

Somehow it's not surprising that a group of people with ridiculous amounts of money at their personal disposal (seen how much those "bonuses" are?) who think they are smarter than anyone else and who regard themselves as worthy of special treatment would take the stupidest drug available and generate the stupidest results ever, then complain that they're mistreated.

Think about the worst coke habit you ever heard of....now compare it to the price of cocaine....

These people had essentially unlimited access to the worst decision-making rocket fuel ever.

This relates to the whole concept of "Just how much money do you possibly need?"

How many houses can you live in, how many hot cars can you drive, how many $1000 per hour whores can you fuck, how many French truffles can you eat?

Many of these people were well into the lower strata of the "So much money that all you can do with it is mischief" Club....

I also wonder if there hasn't been some specific interaction between drug cartel lawyers/accountants/delivery boys and these bank assholes;  I cannot imagine how a cupla trillion dollars in untraceable cash dope money could be floating around out there without Bank Scum figuring out a way to get their filthy hands onnit....

Zappa hadda real bad attitude about dope, particularly cocaine....

Just what DO you do with a $100 booger?

I've heard it was quite expensive back in the 70's and 80's, but where I live it runs about $50 a gram or $150 for an 1/8th. A half gram is generally plenty to keep you going through a night. Marijuana, runs about $15-$20 a gram. I know many people who burn through more than a gram of weed a night. So, I mean, the price difference is not so extreme.

Banksters do what they do because all of the economic incentives tell them they should, and because there is an entire culture of amorality in our financial sector. That's a regulatory issue, not a drug issue.

      •  You know, expensive is relative... (2+ / 0-)

        ....depends on a lotta factors....

Like, frinstence, how much does our Yup LIKE the stuff....Or just how greedy is dealer-guy.... or any of a number of factors....

I left a family member in a strange town in a hotel room across the street from the job we hadda contract for, and SOMEHOW, he managed to go thru $2000 worth in less than a week....and he was a painter making about $25 an hour...He says " Waal, Maak, (southern for "Mike") sometimes dat stuff jus' find me...."  (My general response is angry frustration that pot never seems to "jus' fine ME")

My point here is that greedy Masters of the Universe can and will spend WHATEVER they want on dope without regard for what it costs, if a mere painter can blow thru his whole paycheck in a cupla daze in Mississippi....

        •  It's a fair point.... (0+ / 0-)

Heavy binges can be expensive, and in most users I know, it's a compulsive thing, where putting the bag away for the night feels like a hell of a drag.... So, true enough.

But I just get a bit worried when I see any type of drug hysteria. It generally leads to the scapegoating of the wrong things. I am very sure that wealthy bankers went through a lot of cocaine. I am also sure that if the regulators were doing their damn jobs, it would be irrelevant.
