  •  What is about the word "safety" that gun nuts (6+ / 0-)

    can't seem to grasp.
If the safety catch is on it is really hard to fire a gun.

That is why it is  there and why it is called a "safety."

That is problem #1 for this numb-skulled child killer.

Some other issues this Wyatt Eurp wanna be has:

Why is a grown man playing wild west (where it never happened) quick draw,

    in doors:

    in somebody else's house,

    with a loaded weapon,

    with the safety off

    with a child around?

Masterbating in front of the child would probably have been more illegal than what he did do, but the little girl would still be alive and if not happy at least recovering from the shock of what she had just seen the dud playing with and firing off.

    •  We don't need quick-draw security guards anyway. (4+ / 0-)

Itchy trigger fingers aren't a good idea.

no "security" guard should be armed with a gun to begin with. In 90% of the cases where such a guard faces a gun they are likely to be the first victim and highly unlikely to prevent a crime.

You seldom see armed guards around banks anymore because they are useless. Just another way to get people killed, usually starting with the guard.

High-security situations may require armed guards: High-end private personal security (celebrity body guards and such), money and art transport, maybe a few other instances.

Mall cops and the like should never be armed. They haven't the training or the mind-set to be safe.
