shrapnel just because of what the device is concealed in but when you see that the device went off right behind the grand stand to only have 2 deaths seems low if this wasn't a percussion device, i am shocked there are only 2 people dead and 23 or so injured although thats nothing to take lightly.

you see the runners when it goes off and they barely react and one falls down, that to me indicates a percussion device rather than small obstacles being blasted in all directions to injure and maim, the experts will get this right and me and my opinion will be gone and forgotten as it should be.

justice is the goal here and not over reacting and blaming some group just to enact revenge on someone unpopular should be avoided at all costs.

    •  not 23 injured (0+ / 0-)

Hospital count is about 110 injured (I've seen both 105 and 115) and at least 15 are critical.

(Is it time for the pitchforks and torches yet?)

120 injured, but 2 dead as horrific as that is is a miracle considering the people close to the explosions in the viewing areas, either the person(s) that did this didn't want to inflict more death or they didn't know how to make a device capable of doing that.

i have my opinion but the experts will make that call and then arrest those responsible assuming they can glean enough info to make a strong case in the court of law.

i still hope people don't take the law into their own hands and blame those they have a grudge against in the first place, frontier justice isn't an option here but it will probably happen somewhere in america if history is any predictor of some peoples or groups reactions.

on tv that a doctor said he saw shrapnel that was bb sized pellets, that would be interesting rather than nails or glass as projectiles since bb shrapnel wouldn't do the damage other large pieces would, who knows, only time and info will tell the tale.

    •  I can see your point.. (0+ / 0-)

But earlier today during the initial coverage, I saw a man in a wheelchair with bilateral amputations.  The extent of the injury looked shockingly similar to what I've seen in Afghanistan.  Not sure any of us will know until more details come out

Early reports from surgeons are that ball bearings are being pulled from wounds
