I have to say, here, you have a point. Of course, I love mysteries, and trying to solve them. So I may have a bias.

But your analysis has some merit. If I were the detective trying to identify the culprits, the reasoning you put forth, along with the interesting though in no way conclusive evidence you cited, would facilitate a meaningful line of inquiry.

And frankly, whenever people tell me to stop using my brain, it offends me. And that's kind of the message with, "don't speculate." "Let the authorities inform us." Sheepspeak. I don't trust the authorities.

But there is another side. This is not a closed door discussion. This is a public forum, where what we write matters (though not nearly as much as some like to think).

And so it is necessary to speculate responsibly, and to take care not to bumble around making wild accusation without support.

But I have to say, I think you succeeded in doing that. Or, at least came real close in doing so. This was a good disqualifier.

These facts don't necessitate a domestic culprit any more than different ones would prove a foreign perpetrator
If your disqualifier isn't strong enough, sometimes it helps to put it in bold. ;)

But what good does it do to post it on a public forum?

        "let's talk about that"

If it's just mindless speculation, guessing, or worst, prejudicial assumption, it actually does harm.

But that's not what Troubador did here. He cited some interesting correlations between certain factors of this attack, and a certain segment of the population's views and agenda. I found it informative to consider.

I'm also a grown up so I can go to the bathroom by myself and even draw distinctions between possibilities and certainties.

I was reacting somewhat against the stifling attitude of deliberate blindness rather than trying to craft the exact right tone.
