No direct US involvement in the fighting. Howerver there is support of proxies through indirect funding, training and supply of weapons. It's much cheaper and there is much less political blowback this way.

The Syrian people are caught up in the middle of it. Syria as a functioning state is being destroyed by proxy. Regime change is the objective and it is directed by outsiders.

A UN RTP will not be forthcoming this time. Russia and China learned an important lesson from what happened in Libya when an approval for a no-fly zone morphed into regime change.

    •  And China and Russia care that much why? (0+ / 0-)

If you ask me, the Syrians have plenty of reason to fight, and are not doing so just because a few mortars are being smuggled over the border. So as i said, outside opportunists are trying to make a buck.

if you mean the FSA, aren't doing much of the fighting. It is being done by outsiders. Who pays them... our friends from Qatar and Saudi Arabia are the funnels through which the money flows.

Those doing most of the fighting in opposition to the Syrian government are these folks - Jabhat al-Nusra, yeah just came to make a few bucks.

Perhaps someone actually is concerned about the destruction of Syria and the death and misery it brings to the people there and what life for them will be under people such as those in the video.

Obviously we care about as much as we did about the destruction of Iraq and the misery dealt to the Iraqi people.

I am talking about the people who sell supplies to the fighters. As always in a conflict, there are people selling at high markups.

As for the notion this is just an outside war rought on by foreign interests. If that was the case the Syrian military would have had little problems dispatching a foreign invasion of small-arms militias w/no indigenous support. Sorry, that doesn't pass the smell test.
