  •  PS. There is a difference between being able to (6+ / 0-)

    use technology and actually understanding it.  Very few people understand technology, so an integrated circuit might as well run off magic and pixie-dust.  Most people would adjust to either 'technology' without pause.  But, people do fear that which they don't understand - so we like i-phones and twitter because they are small and ultimately meaningless, but we all hates us particle physics and global warming, because it is big and scary and challenges our assumptions about the world we live in.  So mindless and meaningless technology = good, far reaching and encompassing technology = bad.

      It is the definition of neurotic though when a person or a culture is exclusively focused on its fears and can't spare any attention for its hopes and potential.
