  •  A bit o'er the top, it's not in THAT league. (0+ / 0-)

I tried to watch Battlefield Earth once, for a goof, but couldn't do it. Starship Troopers, on the other hand, is a guilty pleasure. Sure, it's exceedingly dumb, but it's fun. Like a rollercoaster ride. It's too discouraging to take the medium all that seriously. There's so little that is great, one should revel in it when it occurs but not expect it much. Keep in mind, it all began as pulp. I'll admit, I'll watch anything Sci-Fi with a very non-discriminating palate. I mean ANYTHING. But Travolta's scientology travesty was a mothership too far. If you consider the whole pantheon of efforts, Defiance starts to look a lot better. If you can identify a better currently running English language Sci-Fi (or SyFy) television show, I'd like to hear of it.

You show a little grit and you lands in jail.

...I cannot. Yes I obviously laced my commentary with some hyperbole, to be fair the pilot episode of any show is rarely its best but this one struck me as particularly bad.
