    if I had been Tippi.  Ok, so it's not a concentration camp.  She's merely helping to preserve an irreplaceable genome.

    Clearly it was important to her, which is great.  If we all had the same interests nothing would ever get done in most of the world.

    In my case, I attach a very high value to gardening and plants.  I know why I do that, and I'm at home with that.

    I tend to attach the word shallow to self-absorption.  If you spend most of your time looking into the distorted mirror of your own ego, you're probably shallow.  

    If you expend your time looking outside yourself--at any subject matter or interest--you have a far lower probability of being shallow.

    And shallow isn't necessarily bad.  Most shallow people aren't evil, merely self-absorbed.  Many grow out of it as they get older.  Some don't, and in some it does rise to the level I'd call evil.  When you consider nobody but yourself to the extent that you'll allow harm to others to benefit yourself, you're evil.
