    Your previous posts, and many pundits, like to trot out the "cat-food" commission image of cuts hurting the poor the most. It's good to see you acknowledging that it's really the middle class who are primarily hit by this.

    What's hitting the poor is the recent regressive payroll tax increases, including Social Security. The working poor are already being pitted against the comfortably retired middle class.

    Social Security is welfare. Admitting that is the first step to correcting the regressive unfairness of the current system.

      If someone pays into Social Security all their working life, it is an earned benefit.  It is not an entitlement...as defined in derogatory conservative terminology...and it certainly is not "welfare" which is by most definitions is a bare subsistence payment provided as a safety net to those in terrible need.
