    as a well paying career type job in virtually any capacity.

    I still remember the Pilot of the US Air flight that made a picture perfect landing on water saving all the passengers making an emotional testimony to congress about how Pilots are mistreated too. That used to be a ticket to the 1%. Only for a very few now if any.

    The starting pay for most jobs borders on ridiculous. I think airline employees need to spend some money on a public campaign about how badly they are treated and how poorly they are paid.  The perception alone may help. People have to put up with the far more indignities to fly these days. They are treated like cattle. It may help to let them know the employees aren't treated any better.

    They may not care as much in other industries but letting them know that the people responsible for planes flying them at 550 MPH in in thin aluminum skins are being maltreated while management takes off with the loot despite the US Air and American Merger which seems hunky dory now. Give it 3-5 years.

    That's basic safety we are talking about.
