    A hundred years ago, a generation of progressive-minded investigative journalists wrote their names into history by exposing the abuses of the unfettered capitalism of their day. I'd say that we're ripe for a muckraker renaissance, seeing as capitalism seems to have gotten loose of its fetters again.

      Barbara Ehrenreich and her "Nickeled and Dimed: On (not) Getting by in America" was a classic muckraking piece.  It hit the bestseller lists for a while, even, but didn't seem to make a dime's worth of difference in our politics.

      The utter corporate lock on our politicians is what we need to break.
