  •  Amen. First, do no harm. (5+ / 0-)

Your story is the perfect one for this situation.

It doesn't matter that stopping KXL won't end all our problems with anthropogenic climate change.  It's that we've got to stop taking even small steps in the wrong direction.  It's that it's time to start taking at least small steps in the right direction, even if we may not see positive outcomes for a long time, even in our lifetimes.  We've just got to stop adding to the problem.

That's how I live with the fact that I cannot solve a global problem alone, but I can -- and stubbornly do -- take steps every day to mitigate any negative impacts I may cause.  No drama, no proselytizing since I have neither voice nor money.  And far less nagging guilt.

provide the impetus for collective action in the numbers we need to make a difference.  President Obama has a golden opportunity to send a message to the country regarding climate change.  Let's hope he opts for the less comfortable inconvenient choice of NO KXL!

If we really want to straighten out all this crap we really need to think about shit - Holy Shit.

passing a bill to allow Keystone without Presidential approval. So we'll have the pipeline and Obama, Kerry, and Hilary Clinton will all be able to say they were agin' it, but......
