  •  Missed switching to Catholicism (6+ / 0-)

by luck -- was deeply in lust with a Catholic boy and toyed with the idea of joining up. (When he wasn't guilt-ridden, he was actually pretty decent in the sack.) Broke up with him when I found out he was using me just to try and get back his ex-girlfriend who was my best friend -- she'd dumped him because she got tired of his guilt schtick. (He finally married a woman after he got her pregnant -- they had quite a few kids but are still married AFAIK.)

May be proof that there truly is a God -- and She was looking out for me.

if you were a guy, Cali Scribe. ;-)))

Dogs from the street can have all the desirable qualities that one could want from pet dogs. Most adopted stray dogs are usually humble and exceptionally faithful to their owners as if they are grateful for this kindness. -- H.M. Bhumibol Adulyadej

Episcopal rector -- he was studying for the Catholic priesthood in Australia, but he fell in love...so he left the Catholic Church, moved with his beloved to the United States and became an Episcopal priest instead.

He and his husband are vital members of the parish, and their adopted little girl breaks the Commandments every week because she steals everybody's hearts. ;-)

about how everyone talks about Jewish guilt but Catholics carry it like 10 times more, in my experience only (not to generalize).

      •  Yeah, but we Jews had it first. :D (0+ / 0-)

More seriously:  as with everything, it varies a lot with individuals, families, and communities.  I don't think there's anything inherent in Jewish or Catholic dogma that promotes more guilt.
