  •  I'm sitting on a diary that I didn't finish (6+ / 0-)

and probably won't for a few days.  I was going to publish it Monday, but then the whole Boston thing happened, and I thought, why bother competing with that.

The diary will be about a strange subject: Symmetry, and what a strange thing it is.  To me.  I look first at symmetry in human appearances, then in flatfish (they start life with a right and left eye, you know, and then one eye migrates over to the other side.) And asymmetry in the laws of electromagnetism, the "right-hand rule" we all learned in high school or college physics.  And why and how there should ever be such a thing as asymmetry.  I try to speculate what it would be like to look through the looking-glass at a world where the right-hand rule is replaced by a left-hand rule.
