  •  Most photographed crime in history? (11+ / 0-)

If you really consider it, there must have been hundreds of cameras and video recorders aimed at that crowd, even indirectly, over the course of a couple of a hours. I can easily see the authorities being able to take photos from several angles, adding to the video evidence, to get a much better idea of where people were and what movements they were making just around the time of the blasts, and also when the packages were left (I presume the packages were left sometime just before they went off - you couldn't just leave a package there hours before and not be noticed). Would be incredibly compelling evidence in an eventual trial.

    •  crowd-sourcing (4+ / 0-)

I am convinced that crowd-sourcing is the way to solve this.  I'm sure the FBI / Boston PD have hundreds of people reviewing the footage and images; but why not provide a location for a massive dump of images and let millions of people comb them?  This was the most "covered" bombing in history.  There must be thousands of game developers, aeronautical engineers, and all manner of technologists out there with massive computing power available who can take all those images and videos and recreate the entire scene in incredible detail.

GPS & time stamps embedded in a lot of images (just hope they're somewhat accurate), you could put a timeline together as well.
