    •  That is not evidence. (0+ / 0-)

A diary on dkos and a meeting that has yet to happen with senators.  Let's see what is discussed at this meeting.

Come on, when the WH pressures, people know.  Are they going to cut projects in the states of people who refuse to vote for it?

If and when they actually place intense pressure on Dems in Congress, it will be obvious.  Now we just have daily kos speculation.

was based on yesterday yesterday and quoted real live Dem Caucus leaders

Why even have it? If Obama just threw chained  cpi = COLA cuts  out there for funzies for the Republicans why have the meeting with the Dem Caucus?

Obama has offered up  chained  cpi = COLA cuts for years now.

Now its about his legacy, about him.

There is the obvious pressure evident in his besmirching the Democratic Party brand by putting it in writing in the budget.

So the pressure is indeed ongoing. Count on it.

        •  When there will be real pressure is (0+ / 0-)

if an when Republicans agree.  Then the pressure may be overwhelming.  Define pressure.  There is nothing to vote on now, no bill even.

to sell c-cpi to congress and Klein's article isn't the only one appearing that has that VSP-marketing smell to it.

        •  Yes, they explained. (0+ / 0-)

          Again, pressure?

There would be real presusre if the Rs ever agreed to the revenue.

Dems right now have no excuse not to oppose chained cpi.  There's no real pressure on them from the WH.

Pressure ot mean means actual and real consequences if you don't go my way.  The WH feeding senators a fancy lunch is not pressure.

    •  Not to mention that Entitlement 'Reform' has (0+ / 0-)

been the Agenda since before the first inauguration.

Here's a piece about his WaPo Editorial Board interview several days before he was inaugurated (2009).  I have provided a link to the piece.

Obama Pledges Reform of Social Security, Medicare Programs

[President-elect Barack Obama visited The Washington Post on Thursday for an interview before his inauguration Tuesday.]

      By Michael D. Shear
      Washington Post Staff Writer
      Friday, January 16, 2009

President-elect Barack Obama pledged yesterday to shape a new Social Security and Medicare "bargain" with the American people, saying that the nation's long-term economic recovery cannot be attained unless the government finally gets control over its most costly entitlement programs. . . .

And here's the President's own Fiscal Commission's proposal The Moment Of Truth.

Please read Section V, Social Security, beginning on Page 48.

As much as I'm concerned about the passage and implementation of the Chained CPI, other proposed cuts (by the Commission) would concern me even more.
